Benefits
The BOP initiative operates at the cusp of theory and practice, offering companies, NGOs, social entrepreneurs and global organisations the opportunity to interact with thought leaders in BOP business creation, in addition to trajectories on innovation and new market creation. More specifically it provides innovators access to low risk, high impact, low cost processes to support idea creation, information gathering, business planning and pilot experimentation. This generation and collation of knowledge will also be disseminated and used to influence a wider stakeholder audience and to change policy and practice.
The project is unique in that it bridges the traditional divide between companies, academia, NGOs and social entrepreneurs, promoting and supporting cross-sectoral partnership and operations. It further bridges the divide within academic disciplines – including between innovation management and development studies – and utilises a range of qualitative, quantitative and field research methodologies.
