IBM UK Start Summit
Start is an initiative inspired by The Prince Of Wales that aims to show what a sustainable future could look like and to demonstrate the simple steps we can all take to make better use of our natural resources. IBM is one of the founding partners of Start, along with Addison Lee, ASDA, B&Q, BT, EDF Energy, M&S, Virgin Money and Waitrose.
The IBM Summit at Start was a 9-day event in September 2010 at Lancaster House in London, UK. Each day focused on a different aspect of what businesses can do for sustainability and what sustainability can do for business. The Summit was an exclusive opportunity for leaders in business and government, academics and subject matter experts to gather behind closed doors to work towards a set of actionable recommendations.
Harry Barkema, Executive Director of the ICCL, was invited to chair a panel session on Day 2 which was devoted to ‘Smarter Energy for a Sustainable Future’. Panelists are Graham Butler, IBM's Senior Client Partner for State Grid Corporation of China, Simon Trace, CEO Practical Action, Pamela Taylor, Chief Executive Water UK and Nicki Woodhead, Group Environment Manager Vodafone Group Services Limited.
